Claire Lloyd from the ICA wants us to participate in a seminar on the 29th April on future trends in technology.
My take on this is that you should start by finding out what’s happening now. Google shows you the world as it was four weeks ago, six weeks ago. But what’s happening today? This morning? Ten minutes ago? New software – like that of Market Sentinel or Intelliseek – can give you the news on what is being said about you, or what the hot topics of the day are, who’s pro and who’s con. You can use this to get a bead on what the next hit show will be, or the hot new dance act, or the big word-of-mouth publishing success.
It doesn’t exactly let you gaze into a crystal ball, but it gives you a more immediate understanding of what is happening now, and gives you a crucial headstart in reacting to it.
